Summer is giving way to fall migration here at Tiny's Land. The summer residents are restive, fledglings are out and about (we've been enjoying the first flight tests of two VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS of four that were raised under the north eaves of the roof). We had an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER here Sunday, August 3, a migrant. Also of interest, we had one screeching PEREGRINE FALCON back on July 24, and then two appeared August 2--the loudest of the species I have ever encountered! They were so loud on approach that I thought a couple of escaped parrots were flying in. My thought is that perhaps these are birds that nested nearby in the Cascades, perhaps Mt. Pilchuck.
