Last month I only made one trip away from home. It was to the Palouse and
while I did OK with the landscape the birds were hiding from me. So the rest
of the month I stayed home and caught up on the yard work a little. I have
been working for sometime to attract birds, and also dragonflies, to the
yard. Native plantings, water feature, variety of feed, but in few places,
and even built some birdhouses. Things are now paying off. The birds aren't
the kind you list in caps, so I won't. But the variety and the numbers are
good. I'm located in a normally dry open area in Elk Plain (Spanaway south)
but have attracted seven warbler species so far. All the species (66 since I
moved in 4 yrs ago) except the MGWA are in my yardbirds gallery on my pbase
website: http://www.pbase.com/jvhigbee/f_yardbirds
Some recent ones are here: http://www.pbase.com/jvhigbee/c_current
And a rooftop view of the bird area is here:

Next week a trip to Mt. Rainier.
