Hello there Tweets,

Today at 1:00pm a Black Swift came sailing over my yard about 100ft
overhead. Thankfully my binoculars were right by the door so I was able to
have a nice look. Before I spotted the bird I was watching a calling Osprey
fly by when I noticed a smaller UFO gliding just above the raptor. This is a
new bird for my yardlist and species #59!

I'm guessing the clouds and rain this morning had something to do with a
BLSW being so close to the ground in the lowlands in August. Has anyone else
out there in Tweeterland seen BLSWs in the lowlands of western WA at this
time in summer?

About the Western Screech-Owls here in my neighborhood, I actually saw them
a few weeks ago. In the trees on the other side of the street across from my
bedroom window, at least two of them where in the branches making quite the
ruckus while flying in and out of the foliage. I was able to make a few
sound recordings of their activities too. For the last few weeks they've
been singing me to sleep nearly every night, quite a treat!
