Tweeters,
Tina and I spent the weekend on the coast looking for Elegant Terns and
shorebirds. We covered the area between Tokeland and Ocean Shores. On
Saturday, we had a probable Elegant Tern in the air at Tokeland off the
fishing breakwater. Today we got great looks at a non-breeding adult
ELEGANT TERN on the beach at Ocean Shores just north of the Taurus Blvd
beach access. We found the juvenile FRANKIN'S GULL at Hoquiam STP that was
reported by Charlie Wright.
All total we had 21 species of shorebirds for the weekend. We dipped on the
Hudsonian Godwit at Tokeland. Notable birds included 6 WILLET at Tokeland,
4 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE and 2 SNOWY PLOVER at Midway Beach.
Good Luck,
Rick
