Hi Steve,

That Cooper's may still be the reason for the quiet. Even when you don't see them,
that's when they're there. (Sort of sounds like Yogi Berra doesn't it?) That's how
they make their living. The other possibility is that as breeding ends and birds flock
up things will be quieter unless you are near the flock. In my area unless one
finds a flock of local birds and tag-along migrants, Aug. and Sept. can be fairly quiet.
