Two topics:
The nuthatches and fox sparrows have returned to my backyard feeders here
in Cinebar this week, and the chickadees have been back for a couple
weeks, too.

Today was the first day of the Southwest Washington Fair in
Centralia-Chehalis. I visited the Wildlife building to get some
information about managing the wildlife and timber here in my forest.
That quest was successful, but I was surprised that there was nothing
about birds or birding in the building--nor anyplace else in the fair
either as far as I could see, and I tried to see everything. I think it
would even have been a good place for Wild Birds Unlimited to have a
representative becuase I have not been able to find anyplace between
Longview and Olympia to buy anything but sunflower seeds, thistle and
bird feeders. Neither a wiggler, sprayer, mister nor bird book--not
even a bag of white millet!
