We went out to the delta early this am to beat the heat and observed:
Marbled Godwit - 1
Franklin's Gull - 2
Baird's Sandpiper - 13
Spotted Sandpiper - 4
Long-billed Dowitcher - 4
Western Sandpiper - 275
Least Sandpiper - 22
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 2
Lesser Yellowlegs - 5
Greater Yellowlegs - 3
Caspian Terns - only 6
Western Gull - 1 pair - unusual here
Glaucous-winged gull - 1 adult
Lots of Ring-billed and Calif. Gulls
Great Egret - 1
Eastern Kingbirds - 2
Lesser Scaup - 1 male - early arrival
Virginia Rail - 2 half-grown chicks
Yellow Warblers still singing.
Am. White Pelicans - 27 - with lots all up and down the river to Hood Park.
Swallows - mostly Bank and Barn - flying south
The water level rose and covered all the mud flats by 8:30.
At Two Rivers HMU:
Bullock's Oriole - 2
Lazuli Bunting - 1
Western Kingbird - 1
Eastern Kingbird - 4
House Wren - 4
Bewick's Wren - 3
Marsh Wren - 2
Great Egret - 1
Hood Park - pretty dead -
Nashville Warbler - 1
Western Tanager - 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 1 "westside" male - probably the same one we had at Two Rivers HMU this spring.

Now we are indoors and staying out of the heat!!
