Today Sherry and I hiked south along the Pacific Crest Trail from White Pass. The hike was hot, no wind, and mass mosquitoes. We had to turn around about 4.5 miles, due to mosquito swarming and heat. We did see Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Mountain Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Pine Siskins, Gray Jays, Varied Thrushes, Golden-crowned Kinglets, and 2 PINE GROSBEAKS,which were on the way back. They were about .5 miles from the trail head. Also, there was an American Dipper and a Crayfish in the creek at the trail head.
Along Hwy 12 we saw 4 Turkey Vultures. Three in Packwood and 1 in Glenoma.
