Hi Everyone,

I spent an hour this morning birding the area in which Rob Conway saw the Williamson's Sapsucker yesterday (Preston-Snoqualmie trail where it crosses the Preston/Fall City road). Unfortunately I did not find it - and the whole area was very inactive and quiet. The steady rain that started about when I arrived, and the fact that I was not able to get there early in the morning didn't help - there just wasn't much activity today.

Having this species on this side of the mountains is a great sighting - I would doubt there are very many records of this. Birds of Washington shows a few occurrences in spring and fall migration, so this bird might well be a (somewhat disoriented!) migrant.

I'm going to give it one more try tomorrow morning, hopefully earlier than today. Thanks, Rob, for the heads-up.
