hi tweets:

in our continuing efforts to keep the ether full of communications we
announce the siting of a juvenile goshawk perched in a tree west of east
march point road between kavanaugh and north texas roads near the anacortes
city line. the bird is a large accipiter with a heavily streaked body, the
streaks running dorsally up to the shoulders and on the sides of the neck.
overall color buffy on the chest with a speckled back. we saw what we think
was the same bird shortly before that, and the flight of that bird was 'firm
and deliberate'. the head has a white supercilium and marked sagittal crest
when seen from the side. the wind was blowing the bird's long tail around,
so i cannot say whether it has uneven tail bands or not.

as an aside, in the water on the east side of the point there were perhaps
30-35 surf scoters. the tide was very high, so not much else.

let the naysaying begin.

regards,

t
