Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 28. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 26 an immature YELLOW WAGTAIL was photographed at Little Beach
near the mouth of the Necanicum River at Gearhart.

The first nocturnal movement of SWAINSON?S THRUSHES was heard August 26. The
seasons first WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were reported during the week. Among the
many migrant shorebirds during the week were good numbers of RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES. On August 25 four PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were on the North Spit
of Coos Bay. The seasons first BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was there August 26.

The August 26 offshore boat trip out of Brookings found 50 PINK-FOOTED
SHEARWATERS, a BULLER?S SHEARWATER, nine SABINE?S GULLS, and a SKUA. On
August 24 at least 160 ELEGANT TERNS and one COMMON TERN were at Gold Beach.

On August 20 a female REDSTART was along Collins Creek in Skamania Co. WA. A
juvenile PARASITIC JAEGER was on the north side of Mt. Saint Helens August
22. An adult PARASITIC JAEGER was at Stevenson, WA August 25. A FORSTER?S
TERN was seen August 27 at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.

A SNOWY EGRET, a MARBLED GODWIT, three BLACK-NECKED STILTS, and three
AVOCETS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir during the week. On August 24 a COSTA?S
HUMMINGBIRD was at Tumalo State Park near Bend.
