Hi Tweeters,

While hiking at Thorp Mountain last Saturday, I watched a warbler that was hanging out in the lower part of a bush along the trail. It had a light gray hood, darkish back and tail, a buffy/white breast and a yellow belly. The eye ring was quite noticeable, tho' I didn't notice whether it was a broken eye ring or not. No eyebrow. I heard there's a gray-wash orange crowned warbler, but this one's belly was yellower than any orange-crowned I've seen. I want it to be a MacGillivray's because I've never seen one before! Is it safe to assume that's what it was, juvenile or female perhaps? The white breast area was puzzling because I don't see that in the pictures of either one. The bird seemed pretty calm and just sat there while I looked (wish I could say the same about the biting flies...)
