Tweeters,

A short vacation brought me to Cascade Locks, OR, on Monday. From our
riverside motel I spotted SCRUB JAY, DOUBLE CRESTED CORMORANT, and HERRING
GULL in the evening. Next morning the hillside below the motel had
MACGILLAVRAY'S WARBLER, LESSER GOLDFINCH, HOUSE FINCH, and SCRUB JAY.
GREAT BLUE HERON flew over the river.

On Tuesday at the Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood, I saw YELLOW RUMPED WARBLER,
OREGON JUNCO, AND CASSIN'S FINCH.

Other birds noted include STELLER'S JAY, AMERICAN RAVEN, BREWER'S BLACKBIRD,
and HOUSE SPARROW.

My initial impression was that the Lesser Goldfinch was too far north, but
one of my range maps shows a narrow band extending up to the Columbia to the
area we visited. In any case my photo confirms the identification.
