Hi Tweeters,

This morning, Shawneen Finnegan and I birded the River "S" Unit of
Ridgefield NWR in Clark County. We were surprised with the species total of
82. Highlights were many and included:

Semipalmated Sandpiper 1 (south end of Rest Lake)
Pectoral Sandpiper 1 (south end of Rest Lake)
Short-billed Dowitcher 1 (south end of Rest Lake with two Greater
Yellowlegs)
Red-necked Phalarope 1 (south end of Rest Lake)
BOBOLINK - a bird that gave one call perfect for a Bobolink followed by a
shorter note with the same quality. The bird never came out to be seen
though - south end of Rest Lake. We are both very familiar with the fall
migration calls of Bobolinks having spent many fall migration hours in Cape
May and elsewhere in the East.
Red-shouldered Hawk - Long Lake
Sandhill Crane - 6 south of Rest Lake
Bank Swallow - 12 over Rest Lake

Canada Goose - none
House Sparrow - none
Mourning Dove - none
Rock Pigeon - none
Downy Woodpecker - none
Common Bushtit - none

Keep your eyes skyward............

Jim
