Subject: [Tweeters] Columbia Gorge Birding

On Saturday my wife and I decided to bird a little farther east
to escape the unseasonably cool weather and avoid the chance of rain.
What we did not avoid was the strong west winds blowing through the Gorge
which made birding difficult. We did see a good number of TURKEY VULTURES
in Klickitat County there were: 10 at the White Salmon River, 5 at Bingen
and 6 at the mouth of the Klickitat River.
We made a stop to look for the ACORN WOODPECKERS near Lyle and
lucked out seeing three on the Granary Tree which is south of the east
intersection of Balch Rd. and Old Highway 8. I had missed on seeing this
bird earlier this year despite stopping there about a half a dozen times.
