The SWAINSON'S HAWK that was found by Lyn Topinka was present again this
afternoon at Shillapoo Wildlife Area south of Vancouver Lake. It was
hanging out in the field west of La Frambois Rd, just north of the cattle
guard. The bird was unfazed by the presence of cars, and at one point, was
perched at about eye level just feet from the road.

I saw it from ~ 3:30 until 4:20, between the two blue placemarks on the map

This area is referred to as "Vancouver Lake Wildlife Area" in Hal Opperman's
excellent book, A Birder's Guide to Washington. The signage along the road,
though, calls it "Shillapoo Wildlife Area".

Although not nearly as exciting, a lone GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was in a
flock of ~600 cacklers at the River S Unit of Ridgefield NWR. Also present
at Ridgefield NWR were two ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and one NORTHERN SHRIKE.
