Subject: [Tweeters] 2nd Red-shouldered Hawk in Kent??

Hi Tweets,

I thought I should pass along a 2nd hand report about a possible second Red-shouldered hawk in Kent. I received

it about a week ago as part of the Kent Ponds Census Team e-mail list - apologies for the lateness of the report,

but there is a good chance the bird could have stuck around.

The bird was seen by Roger Orness and a friend. Roger is a very experienced raptor watcher so I have no doubt

myself about the ID of the bird. The Smith Dairy is probably 1-2 miles south of Kent Ponds, as the crow flies. It is at

the NW corner of the W. Vallet Hwy?and S. 277th St. intersection.

Good birding,

Jim Flynn

>Hi All,

>Jeff and I stopped at the Smith Brothers Dairy around 14:30 and there was an adult Peregrine on the last of 3 utility poles counting from
the closed green gate off West Valley >Hwy. We also had a Red-shouldered Hawk on the pilings and transformer pole near the diked pond,
just North of the dairy barns. Whether is was a different hawk than the Kent >Ponds hawk was undetermined, but I'm betting it was a
second one. There were 16 Trumpeter Swans in the field across from the dairy all but one were adults.
