While visiting Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge last Saturday,
there was a great variety of ducks and hundreds of Tundra Swans. For
me, the highlight was being able to photograph a juvenile Red-tailed
Hawk at close range while using my vehicle as a blind. You can see
some of the resultant pictures at my blog: http://
leerentz.wordpress.com/ The refuge's policy of encouraging people
to stay in their cars and not allowing bicycling and jogging seem to
work well for seeing and photographing the birds close-up.

In addition, I found Ridgefield especially beautiful at this time of
year, when the Oregon White Oaks have lost their leaves and are
showing their exquisite structural details.
