Tweeters: On December 20, we have need for a volunteer or two to cover Area 3 of the Everett-Marysville CBC. The western border is I-5, and the territory extends as far north as the Stilliguamish River and as far east as Hwy 9 at Arlington High School; the southern boundary is 172nd/Smoky Point. The hot spots include the Portage Bay Wildlife Mgmt Area (this morning there were 6 sparrow sp at the 59th Street access, including WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and 6 Lincoln's, Rough-legged Hawk and 18+ Marsh Wrens); part of the public fishing access along the Stilly River visible from I-5; Bill Quake Park; Arlington Airport park; and various spots in between. Having scouted after the last CBC and this morn, I can provide access details. Best species (for the CBC) in recent years from here include entries of Green Heron & Dipper, a Golden Eagle over Arlington airport, along with high counts of Marsh Wren (34 one year, probably chiefly from Portage Creek) and this year Lincoln's Sparrow should show well. The vast wetland area at Portage could produce Am. Bittern, Short-eared Owl, and others, I'm thinking a Swamp Sparrow or late Com. Yellowthroat if a person was real lucky. There is a lot of open agricultural land in this area, but also some wooded ponds, & some access points at the river, and plenty of hedgerows and forest also. We also have potential need for someone to help in Area 5, which adjoins to the east; it is mostly uplands east of Hwy 9 (Sisco Heights especially).

Please shoot me or Mary Teesdale (meteesdale at hotmail.com) if you have interest.
