I have the same kind of cage, which they do cling to. It seems there is one
who specializes in clinging, and he knocks chunks out for the others to eat
off the ground! My other suet feeder is the kind that holds one cake in
mesh, but that smaller cage is enclosed in a larger cage, also of mesh. The
little birds can go inside to get the suet, and the flickers and pileateds
can also use it, but it does seem to stymie the crows.

I do think, however, that there is no such thing as starling-proof! Although
the only time it seems worth the effort for them is when they are feeding
babies.

We had the same problem with starlings and the suet. We began to hang the
suet container upside down and the startlings were too heavy to hold on to
it.

Maybe that would work with the crows. ??

The crows here have taken over my suet feeder and tear up the suet within
moments. I have the square cage-style attached to a long cedar shingle to
act as a tail rest for my pileateds. The crows have figured out how to
cling to the front! Any ideas?

Thanks.
