Tweets,
Monday midday I visited Gibson Rd between Tenino and Grand Mound after
taking several weeks "off." Nothing much has changed, except probably raptor
numbers decreased:
- White-t Kite (1 juv, 1 adult)
- Short-e Owl, N. Harrier (1 male), R-t Hawk, Am Kestrel
- S Crane -- looked like a big gray rock (head usually down) out 173rd
toward the black-n-blue tarp-covered mound. I had heard it was around but I
hadn't seen it since October.
- 84 Black-b Plover, 2-3 Dunlin
- Meadowlarks, pipit (2)
5 wdpkr spp were present on Vantine Rd. I have seen few Ruby-crowned
Kinglets the last month or more. I am accustomed to seeing more and then
numbers dropping in Jan-Feb. Is there a "shortage" this year or am I just
not remembering very well? Good birding!
