When the Goldfinch disappeared from my neck of the woods this fall, I
took the thistle feeder down. But then, someone on this list mentioned
that Pine Siskin would visit that feeder too, and I had not seen any
Pine Siskins here for two years, so I re-hung the feeder with a mix of
thistle and sunflower chips. For a couple weeks, it has had no
visitors, i.e., the feeder has remained full.

But early today (in the midst of the season's first snowstorm), more
than a dozen Pine Siskins visited it!

The other feeders were frequented by a multitude of Towhees, Juncos,
Black-capped and Chestnut Backed Chickadees, Stellar Jays, one Mourning
Dove, and the three Song Sparrows (that appear to live in my brush pile).
