Tweeters,

I participated today in the Bridgeport CBC along with 16-18 other brave souls. The temperature hovered around 10F most of the day with steady 20+ mph winds to boot! There is about a foot of snow on the ground in the area.

I believe there were about 82 species total for the count which is lower than previous years as well as lower numbers of birds overall. Obviously due in part to the conditions. Some of the count highlights were as follows (my apologies if any mistakes, I'm going off of memory from the count recap): Pacific Loon, Northern Goshawk, Golden Eagle, Prairie Flacon, Chukar, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Snowy Owl-count week might be just outside of area, Pygmy Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, W. Bluebird, T. Solitaire, Boh. Waxwing, and Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch.

Fun count area and nice to see some birds not likely to get on the west side. After seeing reports as well of another Northern Hawk-Owl just north of here, it seems that Eastern WA winter specialties are beginning to move into the area.
