Hello Tweeters,

I live in Sammamish, where it was 18 degrees this morning. Brrr.

I have a hummingbird feeder sitting on a small table on my deck. I've
attached a clamp light with a GE "Rough Service Worklight" 75-watt
bulb so it shines directly on the feeder at close range (a few inches).

I got both the bulb and the clamp light at Ace Hardware, but I'm
guessing you could find the same type of thing at Home Depot, etc.

The bulb gives off just enough heat to keep the feeder unfrozen and
it also gives the hummingbirds a place to roost and warm up a bit.
The birds are outside waiting for me in the morning for me to bring
out the feeder and turn on the light. The last couple of evenings,
I've had one Anna's roost until after dark (7pm on Sunday and 8:30pm
last night), then fly away to roost and go torpid for the night.
After the last bird leaves, I bring the feeder in.

This set-up worked well for me last year and seems to be keeping the
birds happy again this year.
