Thanks for sharing your records of your annual "first sightings" of the
Varied Thrush. I notice that (generally speaking) that first sighting
is later each year. Wonder if there is any correlation with the weather.

Usually, they are one of the most frequently sighted winter birds on my
acerage here, but this year, I have seen them only twice and only a few
each time. However, the fault may be partly mine because I am not
walking as far or as frequently this year, thanks to the colder weather
