RARE BIRD ALERT: The BLACK-TAILED GULL in the Courtenay area on
Vancouver Island was last reported on December 1.


Sightings for Sunday, December 14th

A highlight of the Vancouver Christmas Bird Count was a LESSER
YELLOWLEGS at the Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver
with 15 GREATER YELLOWLEGS. A SPOTTED SANDPIPER was also there.
The preliminary species total for the count is 121.

Also of interest were two AMERICAN DIPPERS and 33 RED CROSSBILLS
In the upper Lynn Creek area of North Vancouver.


Sightings for Saturday, December 13th

A TOWNSEND'S WARBLER has returned for the 4th winter to a feeder at
3051 Spuraway Avenue in Coquitlam.

Two PINE GROSBEAKS were seen on the east side of the Maplewood
Conservation Area, North Vancouver

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues on the dike east of the foot of
64th St, Delta


There were no sightings reported for December 11th or 12th.


Sightings for Wednesday, December 10th

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen again just east of the foot
of 64th Street on the Boundary Bay dyke, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE
was seen nearby.

Also in Delta, a GYRFALCON was seen perched on a transmission
tower near the intersection of Highway 17 and 52nd Street.


There were no sightings reported for December 8th or 9th.


Sightings for Sunday, December 7th

An unconfirmed report was received of a male HOODED WARBLER across
from the Nitobe Memorial Gardens at the University of BC in Vancouver.


Sightings for Friday, December 5th

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues on the dike east of the foot of
64th Street, Delta.

Two EARED GREBES were observed from the White Rock Pier in White Rock.


Sightings for Thursday, December 4th

Another NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen along the Richmond West Dike
just north of the foot of Blundell Road.

A HARRIS'S SPARROW was seen in an Aldergrove yard near 256th Street and
10th Avenue.


Sightings for Wednesday, December 3rd

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues on the dike east of the foot of
64th Street and 2 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen along the dike east of
the foot of 72nd Street, Delta.


Sightings for Tuesday, December 2nd

A SPOTTED SANDPIPER was on a large log floating in Fuller Slough at
the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen in Delta along the Boundary Bay dyke
east of 64th Street, and may have been there for a week or more.


Sightings for Monday, December 1st

Out of town, the BLACK-TAILED GULL was seen again near the Courtenay
Airpark on Vancouver Island, after having been missed on the weekend.
