Just wanted to confirm that indeed there is food for Anna's, at least my own Anna's that are regulars to my 2 feeders.???Directly underneath one feeder is a Showa-no-sakae camellia that is in full bloom.? It is a?fall bloomer?but these temps don't seem to faze it.? I realize it is not a native plant, but hummers and others have now adapted to our non-native gardens, which as others have said, help to keep the populations going.? This does not however, reduce the need for native plants in our gardens.? I recently replanted what seemed like an entire forest area where 4 firs fell and destroyed the native landscape that had been growing unchanged for decades in our still forested area of Bothell.? I planted all natives and the bird life has exploded.? I saw my first brown creeper?in September?and can always count on winter wrens to make an appearance among the many others that prefer the cover of the forest floor.? I have been bringing the
hummer feeders in at night, although I work late and am?not exactly up at the crack of dawn to get them back out.? No matter,?the birds are?patient and?return?soon enough.?
