Hello, Tweeters
Well it has been a couple of years since I have been on Tweeters. I have been building a new home and it seems to have taken all of my extra time. Even my birding has taken a back-seat, I am sorry to say. In the last couple of weeks a Anna's Hummingbird male has forced me to be more involved!!!
I have a male and two females(immatures) visiting my feeders on a daily basis. The male is very territorial, so the females (immatures) have a difficult time using the feeders. With the cold weather I have been alternating my feeders while thawing out the others. My male let's me know when they are frozen by coming to my window. The other day he waited there as I was getting the warm one and as soon as I stepped outside he landed on the feeder I was carrying and had breakfast. He now comes to me and sits on the feeder anytime I am there. He starts as 7:30 A.M and quits at 5:00 P.M. He rests in the trees when not feeding and is never out of sight. It is so cool to be sitting on my deck with the feeder on my knee and the bird having lunch. Sorry for the length, but I had to share this with tweeters.
