Just had a nice "conversation" with this bird, which I almost id'd as a yellow bellied ss, so even though this one did not have as visible a red breast, he had a full red head and voice was a cross between a flicker and a towhee...as I walked away - he/she was on my front doug fir chowing down - kept calling out. Have seen them here before but never heard the call. Nice.

It was also enjoying some cotoneaster berries along with the robins.

One question - do nuthatches reuse same nest and use it for roosting? A nuthatch was inspecting the nest hole from last year.

Anna's is my first visitor of the morning. I've been bringing in feeders at nite and she is waiting for me at the crack of dawn for her breakfast...

Happy Holidays All and Happy Birding in '09!
