I, too, was happily surprised to see a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER in Seattle--around 24th and Dearborn--on Sunday around noon. It landed in a crabapple tree, which was already populated with rapacious robins and starlings, and was so determined/desperate to eat that it withstood without any fuss my presence and my camera.
Also saw five SNOW GEESE flying overhead at 17th and Republican around 8 am this morning. Zowie.
