Linda Kunze called me this afternoon to tell me about some swans on Capitol Lake in Olympia. I drove down there and found 9 Tundra Swans, all in the middle basin. There are thousands of wigeon on the lake. I saw one definite Eurasian Wigeon, a few Shovelers, Mallards, Canada Geese, Bufflehead, Scaup, Common Goldeneye, Hooded Merganser, Gadwall... The Greater White-fronted Goose (likely the same one I saw nearly two months ago) is still present.

I was able to get pretty good looks, through a spotting scope, at six of the swans. Three of them had yellow patches at the bases of their bills. Three appeared to have no yellow on the bill. Still, I think they were all Tundra Swans.
