Mike, Tweeters,



I made a run to the Snoqualmie Valley this morning in hopes of relocating
Mike Wile's HARRIS'S SPARROW. It proved quite birdy. And, yes, I found the
Harris's and got some halfway decent photos. However, it was not along the
road (100th NE) but about 200 yards south along the west side of the slough
that the road crosses at the bridge (1/4 mile e of West Snoqualmie Valley
Rd). For those of you unfamiliar with this location it's a mile or so nw of
Sikes Lake. The fallow field here is behind an open gate and there appear to
be no signs posting the area as "No Trespassing." A couple of months ago I
spoke with a man who had been working in this field, asking permission to
look for birds there, and he indicated that he had no objection. I think
many of the fields along this road are leased by SE Asian families who do
the farming of flowers and vegetables.



The goose flock in the field immediately south of Sikes Lake included the
immature SNOW GOOSE, six GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, and several CACKLERS.
At the 32nd NE field se of the Tolt River Bridge on SR 203 just south of
Carnation there were over 100 SWANS, almost all Trumpeters (I saw one adult
Tundra in the bunch). Also in this field was a flock of 50 AMERICAN PIPITS.
Along Neal Rd. just north of Fall City off of SR 203 near the last barn
before the deadend was a 2nd winter NORTHERN SHRIKE. Lots of Zonotrichia
here but no sign of the White-throated that was here a few weeks back.

I looked for it as well yesterday around 11:00 am and did not see it. I
couldn't even find the flock of crowned sparrows. I wil likely try again
today, as I would like to get a photo.

at various times today, looking for the Harris's Sparrow reported by Mike
Wile yesterday. Bird was not found as of 3pm when I left. If anyone
