Hi Tweets,

Good day of birds today.

Was on a long run this morning through Ballard and heard the unmistakable call of a Western Scrub Jay at 8th Ave NW and NW Market St, a very busy intersection. I stopped long enough to watch it swoop from a tall pine down to the telephone line on the north side of the street. First time I have seen one in Seattle and rather fortuitous to just stumbled across it.

>From 11:38am-12:06pm, I completed the Puget Sound Seabird Survey site at Pier 57 in downtown Seattle. Some great birds were present on very calm water, including one Common Murre and one Pacific Loon, both well within binocular view from the end of the pier (and the first time I have seen either during three surveys at this site). Also of note were a pair of molting Pigeon Guillemots and another single bird in full breeding plumage, as well as 2 Rhinoceros Auklets, and 25 Barrow Goldeneyes (6 males, 19 females).

Have a great and birdy Superbowl Sunday!

Cheers,
Adam Sedgley
