Does the South Whidbey research project on shelled or unshelled show that some finches preferred theirs on the half shell.....or was it found to appealing to oystercatchers only?

Wouldn't be more appropriate to say unpealed bells have no peal - or maybe no appeal - rather than unpealed apples?
