Greetings All

I think that the falcon photographed by John Tubbs is actually of a
tundra-race Peregrine. I've not seen a Gyr with such a strong (albeit narrow)
"mustache." I also can't find a picture of a Gyr that looks this way in Wheeler's hawk
books, Sibley, etc.

I also don't think it is a Prairie because of the almost entirely white
"cheek".

I've seen some Tundra Peregrines in the past that resemble this bird, perhaps
with a bit wide moustachial. They always take me by surprise at first. Nothe
that the bird photographed by John Tubbs does bear a close resemblance to
Sibley's Tundra Peregrine Falcon on p. 133 of his "big guide."
