Subject: [Tweeters] Bird Specimens for Donation

Hi Tweeters,

I was sorry the specimen discussion didn't happen
until after I found the dead American Bittern, so
before I hucked it into the freezer I didn't do any of
the suggested things.

I was under the impression that technically it is not
so legal to have these things. True or not? Anyway
it is at an undisclosed location to be transported to
the WOS meeting tonight. So if anyone would like to
see a bittern up close and frozen now is a good time.
I'll let you know if it is viewable post preparation,
it will look much nicer then I am sure.

As best I can tell it was in perfect condition and
when I picked it up only one feather was loose on the
parking lot pavement. No hungry raptors in sight so I
took it. I think it hit an overhead wire.
