Hi, Tweets

I know winter isn't over yet, but turkey vultures are starting to
appear so this will end the winter report. If you've seen any this
winter, please let me know. Here is the report from late November
2007 through early February 2008 (plus a couple leftovers from
October) from British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon:

October
12 -- 1 over Buttertubs Marsh, Nanaimo, B.C.
13 -- 1 soaring over Duncan, B.C.

November
25 -- 1 juv. in a McMinnville, Oregon field

December
20 -- 1 over the Snoqualmie Valley Trail
29 -- 1 over downtown Sequim and 1 north of Sequim over McComb Gardens
31 -- 1 on the Skagit; 1 in a small slough off the Skagit (seen from
a raft trip)

January
05 -- 1 near Sisters, Oregon
07 -- 1 south of McMinnville, Oregon
24 -- 1 over Newberg, Oregon and 1 near Eugene, Oregon
28 -- 5 over Molalla River Park, Oregon (earliest sighting last year
in this area was 8 March)

February
06 -- "numbers" seen along the southern Oregon coast

Keep an eye out. Be first in your neighborhood to see a 2008 turkey
vulture!! Anyway, if they are in Oregon, it won't be long until they
are up here.

Thanks, as always for your great sightings of a spectacular bird.

Cheers, Diann
