Last year I only had a few Siskins. This year I had none till a few weeks ago when there were 10 to 20 which seemed to be making the rounds in the neighborhood. On Feb 3rd. I had three cedar trees FULL of them. Many of them dropped to the relatively bare ground under the cedars where I observed an estimated 300 to 400 already on the ground. There were additional Siskins at my thistle feeder at the time. The birds in the trees were literally raining down to the ground while those on the ground were flitting about then up into the trees. I was so taken by the sight that I didn't think to look for Redpolls. Most of them have moved on and I am back to just a few. I suspect the large flock was after cedar seeds, many of which may have fallen to the ground during recent windy days.
