Hi Everyone,

Following are some images from the field trip led by Dennis Paulson last weekend.

We had a large number of Pacific Loons feeding relatively close to the Blaine public pier. One gave a very unusual opportunity for a truly close-up shot, much to Dennis's dismay (he didn't bring his camera). Several flocks of scoters, large and small, came flying by. The following image is the best one I got, and I thought at the time that it was a flock of only Surf Scoters. However, looking at the image at home, I was pleasantly surprised to see a White-winged Scoter in the middle of this shot.

The following Double-crested Cormorant flew almost directly overhead and this yielded a good image of the upperparts of the bird.
