Subject: [Tweeters] Snohomish goshawk?

Hi Louise. I saw an adult Goshawk about two weeks ago flying over the HWY 2 trestle, just past the ebey slough bridge heading west, where there are the large conifers on the right, (lots of pigeons and ducks too!). This a hot birding area but hard to access. Last year in March I also observed one flying north at treetop level from my house near Blackman's lake. A retired wildlife biologist I know said that years past the ridge to the west of HWY 9 in Snohomish (adjacent to Mill Creek) was a regular flyway for Goshawks. I've seen many more Goshawks in the Cascades (while grouse hunting) this year than in the past ten years. Maybe it's a good year for them.
Thanks.

> At 7.40am, there was a large accipiter over the farmland just south of the intersection of Hwy 9 with Airport Way/Marsh Rd, south of Snohomish. At that hour, with the poor light, all I had was silhouette, not colouration, but I had it in view for about 15 seconds, and it flew across Hwy 9 only 30 feet in front of my car, heading east.
