Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report

The Brownsmead ARCTIC LOON continues to be seen.

The spring migration of TREE SWALLOWS is now underway. RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS
are now arriving on the southern Oregon Coast. On February 11 two ALLEN?S
HUMMINGBIRDS were at New River. A number of early TURKEY VULTURES were
reported during the week. Large numbers of BALD EAGLES are now arriving in
northern Oregon. Single CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS were reported during the week
on Sauvie Island, in southern Benton County, and in Corvallis.

The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues to be seen in Lincoln City. On February
11 two ROCK SANDPIPERS were at Depoe Bay. LONG-TAILED DUCKS were seen during
the week at Yaquina Head and at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay.

Sauvie Island continues to provide good birding with 1500 SNOW GEESE and
increasing numbers of SANDHILL CRANES. On February 10 a GOLDEN EAGLE was on
the Island. Another was seen near North Plains February 13. On February 11,
13 RED-THROATED LOONS were on the Columbia River in North Portland. A bright
RED-BREASTED GOOSE was photographed February 6 among a goose flock south of
Newberg. A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen February 10 at Baskett Slough NWR.

The wintering SNOWY OWL northeast of Ione was seen again February 10.
