Hi Gwynn and Tweeters:
Could the evening chew - eee calls be KILLDEER calls?
Todd Hass suggested Hutton's Vireo. I didn't see any vireos all winter in the local
area, but this past week in Des Moines I have seen two pairs of HUTTON'S VIREOS in
our area. They don't seem to be making any of their repetitive calls yet, but I was
hearing a soft cheedle ee from the bushes behind one of the birds. I assumed I was
hearing a Hutton's there, but could not see it at the time.
You can walk up the Des Moines Creek Trail now from Des Moines Beach. It goes about
2 1/4 mile all the way up to Tyee Golf Course on 200th St near SeaTac Airport. Most
of it is paved. I am finding lots of little birds (including the pair of Hutton's
Vireos), along the trail just below the waste water treatment plant.
I am also hearing quite a few Yellow-rumped Warblers. All the songbirds must know
it's spring, as they are calling more now.

Hi- I live in the Greenwood neighborhood. I have noticed that sometimes around 8 or 9
pm, i hear what sounds like a bird call. The best I can come up with is a "chew -
eee". That might not be totally representative. At any rate it is two notes, usually
repeated about 3 times. I am just curious to know what it might be, bird or
otherwise.
