Tweeters,

Today (Sun. 2/17) at 2pm and then again at 4pm one Bohemian Waxwing was seen
with a small flock (7-15) of Cedar Waxwings. The location was Duval?s
William F. McCormic Park. For those who do not know where this park it, you
take Duval/Woodinville Rd into Duval, turn right (South) go 3 blocks to
Stephens Rd. ; turn right drive down hill into parking lot for both park and
police. Walk down hill to rail road bed trail. Go South a short ways and
take the first right pathway down to open park along river with benches.
There are Hawthorne trees with red berries in overgrown area to right of
main path. The waxwings were feeding and resting in trees in this area.

Earlier today, to the North of this area, at the Cherry Valley WA Fish &
Wildlife Resource Area (parking permit required); we had what seemed to us
to be a high count of 15 Bald Eagles for this area. 7 were immatures;
mostly 2nd winter birds. There also was a Peregrine Falcon and a female
Northern Harrier and 3 Red-tailed Hawks working the area. Also 69 Trumpeter
Swans were feeding in the farmer?s field adjacent to the South and viewable
from Hwy 203.

Yesterday (Sat. 2/16) while hiking in North Bend?s Rattlesnake Lake area
between 3:30-4:30pm, a Northern Pygmy Owl was heard tooting. The area was
along the John Wayne Iron Horse Trail near Boxley Creek, which is about ?
mile East from parking area for the trail.

Good Birding,
