Subject: [Tweeters] TONS of LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS

My husband and I spent the long weekend in central Washington, and we were delighted to find about 50-80 LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS - give or take a few dozen, but they were everywhere, like robins on a summer day. They were in the oak grove near the parking lot at Fort Simcoe State Park (follow the park signs from White Swan, about 25 miles SW of Yakima). Apparently, the location of these woodpeckers is well-known to the local birding community, but was a big surprise for us. Although this was probably no news to many of you, I though I would post it in case there are other "clueless" birders like ourselves.
