I couldn't resist the reports of the finchfest at Stevens Pass plus the good weather, so I made a quick trip up there today (2/19/08).

I got there around noon, and within 20-30 minutes, I had seen GRAY JAY (1 in parking lot, 1+ along the trail in Chelan Co. -- and yes, I realize this isn't a finch), PINE SISKIN (both counties), RED CROSSBILL (around lodge, King Co.), WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL (~50, both counties), CASSIN'S FINCH (~10, all female-type, both counties), and EVENING GROSBEAK (a fly-by flock of ~50, probably both counties; 4 perched near trail - 1 male, 3 female-type - in Chelan Co.). Then within an hour, I added COMMON REDPOLL (2 males, 1 female-type; based on the topo map, _extremely_ close to the county line, but probably in Chelan).

The only species mentioned in recent reports that I missed was Clark's Nutcracker.
