Subject: [Tweeters] Montlake Fill Yesterday Afternoon

Hey Folks,
spent a couple hours yesterday birding the Fill. The day
was beautiful but I didn't have a ton to look at. Just figured I would
mention what I did see. Yellow-rumped Warblers were everywhere, saw a group
of 10 or so on the ground (not surprised to see them on the ground but in a
group, I am a bit). Plenty of Red-winged Blackbirds, a few males getting a
head start on singing but really only half heartedly. Probably the
highlight was three *Western Meadowlarks* that the University of
Washington's girls track scared up. I was a bit conflicted in which
spectacle I focused on, but kept my bearing on the birds (remember folks I'm
young). One sang a little bit from a willow before disappearing into the
grass again. A couple Red-tails were about, one Juv. bird being chased by a
mob of crows. Waterfowl was fairly lacking and as much as I appreciate the
attempts at eradicating non native blackberries, it sure cuts down on the
sparrows. Last bird of the afternoon was a male Anna's Hummingbird calling
from the dogwoods at the Center for Urban Horticulture Parking Lot.

Cheers!
