Subject: [Tweeters] VATH window strike

Hi Tweets,
Sad to report a window strike of a Varied Thrush. We have eight or ten of
them hanging around our backyard (with a water feature), and this was one of
the females. She struggled to her feet after a few minutes, but she was
stunned on the ground for almost fifteen minutes before she finally flew.
I understand that a very high proportion of birds that hit windows succumb,
even if they fly away after the hit. She obviously didn't have a broken
neck, but with that long recovery time, I figure she's a goner, anyway. Can
anyone point me to some statistics?
Thanks.
