Many of you knew Amy through her work with the East Lake Washington chapter
of Audubon, and the beginning birding classes she taught on the eastside for
many years. After a long hard-fought battle with cancer, Amy McQuade passed
away yesterday at the age of 95.

Amy came to her love of birding after her retirement and became a passionate
advocate. She delighted in passing on her knowledge to beginners in her
classes, and her legendary class field trip to Eastern Washington was always
a highlight. She has not been able to be out in the field much in recent
years, but she completed a Birdathon trip last spring, and she never lost
her love for birds or her sense of humor.

Many active volunteers, including many Board members, of the eastside
Audubon chapter were recruited by her enthusiasm. Although she had not been
able to be active recently, Amy was still on the Board at the time of her
death.

The birding community has lost a great friend.
