Hello All,
Yesterday while birding along the Snake River MerryLynn and I visited a site
that I assumed was closed to public entrance due to many "No Trespassing"
signs posted. Well it is not and the potential as a vagrant trap is very
high. It is called the Burbank Heights HMU and is located west of Ice Harbor
Dam. This area is surrounded by water on all sides with patches of dense
cover and a nice trail that goes through the center. We saw 26 White
Pelicans, a Yellow shafted Flicker, many Wood Duck and a pair of Coyotes and
a Long-tailed Weasel.

Mew Gull-4 birds
Thayers Gull-2 birds
Glaucous-winged Gull-5 birds
Merlin-1ad.
Dunlin-62 birds
Least Sandpiper-4 birds-first of the year!
Eurasian Wigeon-2 ad. males
American Wigeon-2500+

Bald Eagle roost-there is a site along the Columbia River where these great
birds have an evening roost and merryLynn counted 44 birds with one on the
poop piles and another on Badger Island for a total of 46 Bald Eagles in
Western Walla Walla Co.-this is the most we have ever seen in a day in this
county.

We watched for swallows all day and saw none!
