Yes! I was amazed and pleased to hear that familiar "cheek" sound overhead. I thought "wow, that sounds familiar...what is that?" and then I saw the tree swallows.

Other highlights of Nisqually on Saturday: the big fuzzy GHO babe in the crook of a tree w/parent standing guard, and at the 1/2-way point around the Brown Farm dike loop, an adult female merlin enjoying a small fuzzy snack in a bare tree.

Subject: [Tweeters] Tree Swallows at Nisqually

I don?t know if anyone has reported spotting Swallows
this year or not, but we saw our first Tree Swallows Saturday (yesterday) at
Nisqually. These are the first I?ve seen this year in any case. Five or
six alighted briefly on a tree near the Visitors Center, then took off again. Spring
must be close.
